The Crucible isn't like any other play I've read before. I've never read anything telling of religious views and witchcraft that was fiction. This play was very interesting to me because of the personalities of the characters. They are very stubborn and biassed in that they believe that a small sign of witchcraft means you are a witch. I found it surprising with how they handle these types of "crimes". I also found it weird that they revolved almost everything they did with the church. But it's also strange that they believe themselves to be good people and they do such harsh things if you don't obey them, like hangings.
This play is also a bit confusing because the girls that were accussed of witchcraft first denied it and then confessed it later with calm, it confusing to tell wether or not the characters are associted with witchcraft or they're covering up for someone else. Tituba also seems like a strange character, first because she talks in third person and second because she claimed to give the girls chicken blood. Wouldn't you die if you drank chicken blood?!

I've heard this song played alot for many years but never really payed attention to it, but I did know it was about Chicago. While typing the lyrics I noticed that Wendy (Windy) was meant to represent "the windy city", Chicago. I've always thought that Wendy was an actual girl that Kanye met. So when he says "...she showed me how to go downtown, and at nighttime her face lit up, so astounding..." he's saying that there were so many lights lighting up the face of Chicago. MIND BLOWN!
Kanye West really supports Chicago saying that it is so beautiful and supportive of him. He describes it as being so beautiful with so many lights. He also says that it supports him but if he gets in trouble it isn't afraid to "straighten him up". This place is mainly downtown in Chicago, Illinois; it is urban.

3 Communities That I Belong To
1.) The Dance Community
2.) Hispanic Community
3.) The Whitney Young Community
I love being a part of the dance community. I grew up in a family that loves to dance, so it just comes naturally to me. When I was younger my mom let me join ballet classes to get formally trained, but that didn't last for long because I grew tired of it and quit! I said that I would never dance again, but... now I am in Dance III in my high school. I enjoy dance so much and I get to do it everyday as a grade!
Now that I have been taking dance classes for a while, I have been more involved in my school, passing out flyers for dance shows and staying afterschool. This year we are having a fund-raising event to help pay for things we need (like costumes) called "Dance-a-Day" in which you pay for dance classes for an entire day! So not only are we busy doing tondues and plies but were also being involved in the community (the Whitney Young community).
Thanks to the dance class that I have been taking in Whitney Young, I have been honestly thinking about majoring in dance to pursue it as a career. I love being able to say that I am part of such an amazing and exciting community. All of us dancers stick together to get things done and be proud of being dancers, especially of all the hard work we've put in!

Post 1: Response to Crèvecour
In Crèvecour's Letters From an American Farmer, Crèvecour describes America many times as comparing it to other things. One of the things he compares America to is an asylum, place of refuge. Back then America was greatly know as the "land of the free", and we might not think of it that way much anymore but it is still true for many. Today people still imigrate to America in search for better opportunities, or better living environments (refuge). He also well defines America as a melting pot, being so that America is formed with people of different races all merged together. I've heard the U.S. described as a melting pot so many times, because it is so true even today. In America, you can literallly accomplish anything you want in no matter your race or religion. It actually is a place of refuge because not a whole lot of countries have the opportunities that you can recieve here. Almost everything in America is based on the people's opinion, we are not a monarchy, like most countries were back in the 18th century.
